Students in grades 5-8 are assigned a Chromebook that has been issued to the specific student to utilize for the duration of their time at St. Jude.  The devices remain at school at all time.  If a family needs a device for home, please contact the homeroom teacher and a "Take Home" device can likely be provided.

All students must sign an Acceptable Use Policy form (AUP) before being issued their device.  Students are trained by staff on proper use and care of their device to minimize preventable damages.  Although these devices are designed to resist the rigors of daily use, the screens on our favorite mobile devices are actually very fragile. Students will be allowed 1 free screen replacement during their time at St. Jude.   All other repairs will incur a fee that will be charged to the student.

Remind your students of the following to ensure they are taking care of their device:

 If twisted, poked hard, or if just enough pressure is applied to the back of the LCD assembly, the screen will crack. Unlike a desktop key, each key on a laptop keyboard may have three components: the keycap, key pad, and the key retainer. When the keys have been removed with the help of a pencil, pen, etc., it makes it difficult to repair because one or all of the parts are missing. Damaged charging ports can be prevented if students would be more cautious when plugging in their Chromebook at the end of the day. Please take the time to speak with your student(s) about taking care of their Chromebook(s).
